You can choose many forms of lodging. From beautiful hotels and motels to cozy, quaint bed and breakfasts, Jersey County visitors will never have to sacrifice comfort. Whether for a weekend or a week, Jersey County is “Close to the Crowd but not in it.”

From early childhood development through university studies Jersey County offers an abundance of educational opportunities. The majority of students enroll through the Jersey Community Unit School District 100, while there are numerous private and parochial institutions as well. This PreK through 12th grade school system is composed of three elementary schools, Illini Middle School and Jersey Community High School. The district is committed to providing high quality education and enhancing the academic and social lives of its students, all while maintaining some of the highest standards and above-average achievement on standardized tests.

Jersey Community Unit School District is committed to preparing all of its students to be successful, positive contributors to the community and society. The district has implemented a one-to-one initiative in order to meet the needs of how children learn with technology today. Students will be provided a laptop/device to use for their studies in school and at home. This program called “Digital Conversion” is not just about giving students laptops/devices, but delivering knowledge, skills and information in a new way – digital. The program will allow teachers to become facilitators in learning, instead of givers of knowledge. It will allow schools to become more efficient, higher performing and fiscally responsible, while teaching students how to collaborate utilizing technological resources. Teachers and administrators will have real time access to the student’s data, allowing them to provide immediate help for students who are struggling with a particular skill. This “Digital Conversion” program will allow students to be challenged while creating, collaborating and solving problems that will prepare them for further education or even a career that has yet to be invented.

Secondary education can also be found in various forms in and around Jersey County. Principia College, located in nearby Elsah, is a four-year liberal arts college offering more than 30 different majors and minors with an incredibly active campus life. Neighboring Godfrey hosts the Lewis and Clark Community College, which caters to students working to obtain associate degrees or professional certificates. About 45 minutes away is Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, home to an abundance of higher educational opportunities.

Health & Wellness

Jersey Community Hospital (JCH) has been serving this community since 1954. Although many things have changed in healthcare over the years, our primary focus is YOU. As an independent facility, owned by the people of Jersey County, they are dedicated to becoming your primary healthcare resource. JCH is passionate about serving you and improving our organization from the inside out.

Whether it’s a volunteer who greets you at the door, the physician who provides a healing solution or the therapist who helps you get back on your feet, their team is committed to providing friendly, compassionate care. They recruit only the best physicians, nurses, technicians, therapists, leadership and support staff – ensuring you receive quality healthcare, minutes from home.

They are dedicated to improving lifesaving technology in a financially responsible manner. As technology advances and healthcare transforms, they will acquire state-of-the-art equipment to meet the challenge. JCH has added a dedicated on-site MRI and multi-slice CT scanner. Plus, they have a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) for digital filing as well as updated colonoscopy equipment.

JCH is determined to provide the services and the quality you deserve. Starting with a clean, friendly hospital that promotes healing, they are committed to finding ways to serve you better. They are putting new measures in place to improve patient satisfaction in their emergency room, as well as other services provided. In the past few years, JCH has renovated the obstetrics department at the Women’s Center, and will be moving the Sleep Disorder Center back on campus. In addition, the contemporary Wellness Center continues to meet the community’s fitness needs. Their diabetes department is one of the strongest in the area and the radiology services and community programs continue to grow.

Educating the community on ways to improve and maintain health is also an important objective of JCH. They will continue to build awareness of the programs and services offered through a variety of avenues, including our website (, newsletter and advertising.

We are your community hospital and appreciate the continued support.  The Right Choice is Right Here at Jersey Community Hospital!
